I Just Need A Moment

About the show:

I Just Need A Moment is the official debut performance of music based artist Mix Sweetley.
Returning to the stage for the first time ever Mix Sweetley (FKA Michael Wheatley) will be performing a collection of songs that have featured in their life over the last few years of overwhelming transformation. Tender, raw interpretations of classic covers and original songs, old and new. All a way to communicate and connect, to exist through being perceived, within the safety of music, song and story, to share a moment.

About the artist:

Mix Sweetley is a trans-feminine, autistic, singer-songwriter and producer from Awabakal Country, Lake Macquarie, in New South Wales Australia.
Their music explores mental health, gender, identity and relationships.
Perpetually under deconstruction and dismantling their mask one song at a time, Mix Sweetley is the honestly raw, stripped bare and unashamedly naked spirit that lives within us all.
Although in many ways this show is a debut for Mix it’s also the return to the stage of one of Australia’s most successful solo fringe artists with a string of 5 star, sell out shows, nominations and awards, they also have a successful independent music career that has spanned over 30 years under their former name Michael Wheatley as a singer, musician, producer, songwriter, cabaret artist and musical director. In January 2024 Michael experienced and was later diagnosed with, autistic burnout. At the same time they caught COVID leading to long COVID. On top of this they were also mis-prescribed SSRI medication and suffered from serotonin syndrome for 6 months and withdrawal syndrome for another 6 months. Eventually they were diagnosed as Autistic with combined ADHD, appropriately medicated and able to start rebuilding their life with the proper support they’d always needed. In April 2025 Michael came out online as trans-feminine and revealed their true identity Mix Sweetley.
